One of the best places you will eat in the state! We always get up at the crack of dawn when we head to Jasper, so we can catch a sunrise. Ozark Cafe is the perfect place for a hearty meal before a day of hiking!
#2 - Triple Falls Trailhead
This waterfall is a short hike away, but getting to it is a little more difficult. The road you'll use goes down (and we mean dooooowwwnnnn) to a Boy Scout camp. Watch out for ruts and areas where the gravel road is washed out! Worth it though!!!
#3 - Buffalo Outdoor Center
Do a little local shopping and pick up a picnic lunch (we highly recommend the chicken salad sandwich) and don't forget your cold drink! They also have the best potties in the area...just sayin.
#4 - Lost Valley Trailhead and Eden Falls
This is a super easy hike....in fact, it's partially paved! You'll feel like you're stepping back in time to the Jurassic age!
#5 - Ponca Elk Education Center
Definitely a cool place to learn more about the elk and other wildlife that you may see in the area. They're always happen to answer questions and point you in the right direction for elk viewing. Best of all, it's FREE and they also offer fun classes throughout the year!!
#6 - Elk Fields
If you're in the area around dawn or dusk, make sure you stop to see the elk. They're not always out, but when they are it's a sight to see! They're even known for crossing the road right in front of you!!
#7 - Low Gap Cafe
If you're staying in the area and you're looking for a good meal, this is the place to go! Just a forewarning, it looks a hole in the wall from the outside....give it a chance!!! It's owned by a five-star chef and I'm not lying when I say it was one of the best meals I've ever tasted. The atmosphere is casual and they have live music on the weekends....tell Nick we sent you!!
