STATE PARKS: Lake Frierson State Park

Welcome to Lake Frierson State Park!

The picturesque Lake Frierson State Park is located about ten minutes north of Jonesboro on the western edge of Crowley's Ridge in Northeast Arkansas. The 335 acre lake was created as a project of the US Soil Conservation Service and was added to the Arkansas state parks system in 1975.

Managed and stocked by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Lake Frierson has been called one of the hottest fishing spots in Northeast Arkansas. The timber filled water provides the perfect habitat for bass, bream, channel catfish and crappie. Bring your own fishing boat or rent one at the marina. You can also cast off from the fishing pier. There are pedal boats available to rent during the summer and they now offer sunset kayak tours.

The park includes three tent sites and four camp sites equipped with RV and camper hookups. Or string up your hammock between poles at the hammock station. A barrier free enclosed pavilion can be rented out to host weddings and special events in a comfortable environment and includes a large grill, restrooms and horseshoe pit on the water. There are also numerous benches and picnic areas and a playground by the lake to keep the kids entertained. The Visitor's center offers a gift shop with state park souvenirs as well as necessities like ice, firewood, fishing bait and tackle. Lake Frierson State Park is an eagle watch park and is an excellent viewing area for songbirds and waterfowl.

Now, let's talk about trails!

The Dogwood Lane Trail is a half a mile loop with an eighth of a mile spur that leads to the visitor's center. It's called Dogwood Lane for a reason...Lake Frierson State Park has more dogwoods than any other Arkansas State Park its size and they are spectacular when they bloom in the spring!!We hope you’ve enjoyed this look into Lake Frierson State Park and we encourage you to get out and experience The Natural State!
